Winter may be nearing in Australia, but the land Down Under has much in common with La-La Land, from its nearly 24/7 sunshine and its stellar surf scene to its coastal-cool lifestyle and (of course) love for avocado toast. Enter Sydney-based Chuchka, the cult-favorite label known for its sporty neoprene bags, which Angelenos can get their hands on at its first Los Angeles pop-up shop at Westfield Century City. (Oh, and they're hooking up UncoverLa readers with a very special discount too — keep reading!)
Holding court now through Sunday, June 30 on level two near Nordstrom, the temporary boutique stocks Chuchka's signature beach-ready neoprene carryalls ($20 to $119), including totes, backpacks, clutches, cross-bodies, bucket bags, bumbags, gym bags, and even diaper bags. Also in the mix are the brand's waterproof Mexican totes ($89) handwoven from recycled plastic and its new espadrille It Bag, which is launching exclusively in the U.S.
Also in the mix are towels, jewelry, eco-friendly yoga mats, and Chuchka Mini, its kids line of onesies, playsuits, and ponchos made of comfy Turkish cotton and linen.
The brand (which takes its name from an ancient Yiddish word that means "trinkets" or "collectibles") was founded in 2015 Stefanie Schwartz, a clinical psychologist-turned-designer (and mama of three!) who created the brand after finding a lack of stylish options in the neoprene bag market. (The washable, versatile material is popular among Australia's beach-going set.)
The L.A. pop-up coincides with Chuchka's first New York shop that's popping up during the same time in Nolita (tell all of your Big Apple pals).
That's not all: Mention WhatRivaWore at the Westfield Century City shop when you check out and you'll score 15% off your purchase. (How's that for getting us prepped for summer?)
